BOSSY: So you have your hands full right now!
LaToya: Yes and now I am also co-hosting weekly on 92.7 FM. It’s a local station hitting South Broward to North Dade, during the midday meditation. So every Wednesday at 12:15PM until 2PM I’m on air discussing different tech, business and community topics with the host Humble Lion (Normal Lawrence). It’s called Stir It Up Wednesdays. It’s given me another platform to discuss a lot of topics that our community needs to be aware of that might not be on the mainstream news. It’s been really awesome and the feedback has been really positive.
BOSSY: Okay let’s take it back for minute, before you became this mogul in the making. Where did you grow up?
LaToya: I’m actually a Miami native. I grew up in Coconut Grove. I went to Miami Killian High and then to Florida State. Directly after undergrad I moved to New York and started my career in advertising.
BOSSY! What made you decide to go into advertising?
LaToya: Okay so maybe in middle school or so, I went to see the movie Boomerang. I watched Robin Givens in that movie and I remember coming home and calling my cousin who was away attending Howard University at the time and was like, “What is that? I want to do that!” She told me it was marketing and advertising and I told her that’s it. That’s what I’m going to do.
