"From now on I am going to try harder and do my best."

How many times have you experienced an unpleasant situation and had to force yourself to “think positive”? While pushing yourself can sometimes provide the necessary jolt in commanding yourself to do your "best" this doesn't give you much leeway should you have a bad day and slip. You then begin to feel as though you have made no progress just because of that one bad day. Remember, this all takes time, practice, persistence and patience with yourself. You can’t undo years of negative and pessimistic thinking overnight. Don’t rush the process, take it one step at a time and learn from your mistakes along the way, because believe me you will make mistakes, we all do.

"Everyone else has more luck than I do."

Some people truly believe that there is a permanent black thunder cloud over just them. As though good fortune and happiness will never be theirs and is just reserved for “everyone else”. This way of thinking is a coping mechanism to justify why life is not going the way you would truly like for it to go. This is the justification used when you are unable to comprehend why you are not living the life you want or getting what you want. It’s comforting almost and a form of you reassuring yourself of the why things are as they are. Although for a moment it will ease your suffering and the emotional and mental pain you are feeling. This way of thinking is risky as it can lead to you resenting others and their achievements.
