I didn’t want to wait for them to dry on their own, so I decided to speed up the process by putting them in the oven. About ½ an hour later, they were opened again. I had to turn them and remove a few to allow more room, but it did the trick. I was finally ready to get started on my projects!
1. Golden Pine Cones - This first project took no time at all. Simply spray paint the pine cones and use them to surround a candle in a vase. Easy peasy. You can also place them in a bowl on your coffee or console table.
2. Framed Pine Cone - The second project is a simple framed pine cone. All I needed was a hot glue gun and a dollar store frame with a matte. The frame happened to already be gold, but I added a coat of metallic gold spray paint to give it a little luster. I used a white sheet of stock paper as the back. I pried off a few rows of scales on the pine cone and added plenty of glue and applied it to the stock paper. So simple, but the fact that it’s a 3-d really makes it pop.
3. Pine Cone Napkin Ring - This last project was just as simple as the first two and really jazzed up my plate settings. I had some ho-hum napkin rings from a billion years ago that I just hot glue gunned the smaller of the cones to.
Well, there you have it! All in all, the most time was spent prepping the pine cones, but I absolutely love how these turned out. I’ll definitely be using these versatile little guys more and more as I continue to get my home ready for the holidays!
