BOSSY!: What’s the hardest thing about being a BOSS?

Shelly Rockstar: Being the Boss means being accountable first. No one else, just you. It’s all fun and games until you have to say no. It’s a barrel of laughs until someone makes a complaint. It is very easy to accept laurels, but you also have to be ready and willing to listen to criticism, accept that people do things differently and admit you’re wrong.

BOSSY!: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Shelly Rockstar: I would love to be booked to capacity for sure. Having my own entertainment company was a goal for me 10 years ago. Rockstar Entertainment grew out of that and I’m the first one on the roster. I only hope to continue developing other female deejays and producers and extending Mahogany Ink’s overall reach and influence.

At BOSSY! we are continuously inspired by women making bold moves. No matter where you are on your path to success don’t be afraid to follow your heart. Your future is never set in stone. Shelly’s journey reminds us at BOSSY! that it’s never too late to make a u-turn.
