Name: T680- Interstate Productions

City of birth/Current city: Yonkers New York

How do you define yourself as an artist? The artist part comes from my love for music. I try to balance that with my truck driving, it’s a little hard because when I’m supposed to be sleeping I’m actually in the truck working on music. I have my mic and everything set up in the cab of the truck so it’s a fine line between sleep and working because you can’t drive a truck tired. I wasn’t supposed to be an artist when I first started. I was producing for an artist but there comes a point when you can’t get the artist to see your vision. I recently signed a distribution contract with Bentley records and the A&R there suggested that I become an artist

What do you like more between producing and being an artist? I love making the music; I love just sitting back when it’s done like wow how did I do that

What did your artist name come from? T680 that comes from a model truck that I drive. It all fits together with my job and the music.

I read that you knew Jada Kiss and DMX, Tell us about that: Yea I grew up with them actually. We all grew up in Yonkers New York, as you know DMX was mostly SCHOOL STREET, JADA KISS was from a close area and I actually grew up in the same projects as MARY J BLIGE. So there were times we played as kids and everything. JADA KISS was actually pretty close with my family so I would actually see him often. Its nice to see everybody doing their thing; I don’t know what took me so long but I’m here.

Tell us about some recent events or projects: I have some pretty good stuff I’m working on, I actually have track with Tupac. I don’t know how far it’s going to go though. I got a hold of some vocals, I was online and someone emailed them to me and it was just a whole bunch of Tupac vocals. That’s actually how I learned how to produce because I was laying my beats over Tupac vocals. I work hard I have about 30 songs out now and I just started a year ago as an artist.

What are your short term and long term goals? My short term goal right now is to just become a better artist all together. I want to become a better artist because I want to get signed at the end of my contract. Either way I love music and I’m going to do music regardless. My long term goal is to get out of the truck; I want to do music for a living.

In your bio we read that you have had a lot of adversities in the past facing homelessness and thoughts of suicide. What do you take from those trials the most that you use today? That you can overcome anything if you put your mind to it. You just have to be willing to put in work to get there. When I was out on the streets of Atlanta I was sleeping in Centennial Park. It was real tough; I had thoughts of suicide, at one point I just wanted to lay on the train tracks and let a train just hit me. I just reminded myself that I’m at rock bottom now and there was nowhere to go but up. So I hung in there, its emotional when you think about it because when you are homeless people look at you and assume you are a drug addict or alcoholic. That’s not always the problem, people lose their jobs or some people had hardships and don’t make enough money to sustain themselves and that’s what my problem was because even when I was homeless I was still working.

How do you stand out among other artists? My music is real, I capture the listeners by using my experiences and that’s why people like it.

You mentioned Tupac was your favorite artist. Do you have any other artists that have inspired you along the way? I would say RZA, Mary J Blige, Mariah Carey and I also listen to all of the old school music like the OJs. They give me a lot of inspiration when I listen to them.

B.o.s.s Code stands for Business Over Social Stress, how can you relate with this in your personal life? I can relate definitely with that. When I think about things and I put things into perspective I’m very blessed to be where I am especially musically. Its hard trying to balance music and my job and plus driving a truck is very stressful so I just try to put it all together and keep my mind to the point where when I’m driving I’m always thinking about the next track or move.

I'm currently seeking management and the truck makes it difficult to perform or to get ready to perform but these are challenges I'm working on at the moment
