HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING MUSIC, AND WHAT WAS YOUR ATTRACTON?

I’ve always been around music from growing up in church from singing in the choir (by force) and just playing around with instrumentals before and after rehearsals, but I actually began producing when I was 9 years old. I started rapping when I was about 13. I’m 30 now.

WHAT OTHER TALENTS DO YOU HAVE?

I’m really good with art and design. I can do it all from drawing a picture to designing a clothing line. Anything visionary I can do it.

TELL US ABOUT SOME RECENT EVENTS/PROJECTS?

In April of this year I released my first studio album since 2003 called “Far From Home”. It’s available on all digital distribution sites. I’ve released other songs and project over the years but “Far From Home” is the first actual body of work that I‘ve released. I learned a lot about life and myself so I just felt like it was time to talk about it.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT MUSIC AND CREATING IT?

Music has gotten me through a lot of situations in my life. It was always my outlet to release whatever I had on my mind or in my heart. I’m pretty stand offish so me being able to create music is my way to communicate with the world. I LOVE creating music. To walk into a studio and hear nothing and after a session, you listen to what you’ve made and sometimes it can blow your mind. Music, besides money, is the language of the world and I’m glad that I can use it to share my little experiences with people.

WHAT IS YOUR SHORT TERM MUSIC GOAL?

Right now I’m just focusing on making good music and not getting too caught up in what a certain crowd wants to hear. I’ve been working really hard on promoting my album so I can create an avenue for myself to be seen not just as a “rapper” but a brand. Me and my team are just promoting real heavy right now.

WHAT IS YOUR LONG TERM MUSIC GOAL?

At one point in my life I wanted to be famous, we all do. After living life and seeing how this industry has changed drastically, I kinda just want to focus on my music. Not so much the social media world even though I know its very necessary to have that aspect. I just want a loyal fan base or following that not only listens to my music, but understand it. I want to be one of those artist that people can say “he’s my favorite”. That’s major. At that point, being an artist and creating music is easy because they like you for who you are. That’s all I want now is too have a long prosperous career and make more classic albums such as “Far From Home”. God will handle the rest.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE ARTISTS/PRODUCERS PAST OR PRESENT?

Is it wrong for me to say myself? LOL. I like a lot of the older music such as Frankie Beverly & Maze, Sade, The Isley Brothers etc. As far as the new school there’s so many new artist that I like to listen to at times but I wouldn’t really consider them my favorites. Can’t leave out Kanye!!!

WHAT TYPE OF ADVERSITY HAVE YOU HAD TO OVERCOME IN YOUR ENDEAVORS?

Maaaaaaan this music has given me so much but it’s taken a lot in return. I’ve hit so many highs and lows over the years from being misunderstood and underestimated. Of course I hit that “Am I even good enough?” phase. That’s what makes you who you are though. My mom always taught me to not run away from adversity because that same obstacle you tried to avoid will still be there whether now or later. Go through it! I’ve lost friends, relationships, MONEY and mostly myself but that’s the cycle. My story is no different from the next person, I just handle mine a little different ya know? To whom much is given, much is required!!!

THUS FAR WHAT IS A STAND OUT MOMENT OF YOUR CAREER?

When I sat in the studio by myself and listened to my latest album “Far From Home” and said to myself, I’m ready now! I never felt that feeling. It made me just want to start a clean slate to make new memories. CHANGED MY LIFE (Stan voice).

HOW DO YOU STAND OUT AMONGST OTHER ARTISTS?

I just do me. *shrug*

TELL US A FACT ABOUT YOU.

I’m not the empty wagon making all the noise. I’m the strong silent type. I be chillin’, observing. I love the Lord, I love my family and I love myself.

B.O.S.S. CODE STANDS FOR BUSINESS OVER SOCIAL STRESS. HOW CAN YOU RELATE THAT IN YOUR LIFE AND CAREER?

I don’t take business personal. I just do my best and if it’s meant for me to get it or not get it, that’s what it is. I know firsthand what stress can do to you and I don’t let too much stress me especially not social stress. Handle your business, the rest is history. Let “them” think or say what they want.
