In this environment, flexibility and innovation are key success factors, which set us apart from our competitors. Bosch Holdings’ continued growth and achievements in challenging times is testament to the dedication and commitment of the Bosch leadership team. We are expanding our operations in Africa and have officially opened Bosch East Africa which will have Nairobi as its base. Gary Barlow has been appointed as MD and will be well positioned to offer our clients more effective innovative solutions in the East African region. Bosch Holdings’ Young Engineer of the Year Technical excellence is an integral part of our core values and as such, Bosch Holdings was very proud to have been awarded the joint winner of this year’s Business Excellence Award which forms part of the annual CESA Aon Engineering Excellence Awards ceremony. Mentoring and development of young engineers is critical to the sustainability of our industry. As part of the group’s commitment to this initiative, Bosch Holdings’ sponsored the CESA Mentoring Company of the Year Award, while two Bosch Holdings’ employees, Jaco Kotzé and Morrell Rosseau, were nominated for the Young Engineer of the Year Award and the Mentor of the Year Award, respectively. Bosch Engenharia sells CVP to São Martinho mill In 2013 Bosch Holdings introduced a new Young E n g i n e e r D eve l o p m e n t Programme. The process involves intensive development and mentoring of a young (under 35 years) professional engineer in Bosch for a 12 month period. This programme is a key part of our Bosch Value Statement. The selected engineer is involved in the following development process under the mentorship of the Chief Executive: • Enrolment on the FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) Young Professionals Management Training Programme (YPMTP), which is an 8 month course involving facilitated on-line sessions and assignments. • Attendance of the annual FIDIC World Consulting Engineers Conference, giving the selected candidate an excellent development and global networking opportunity. • Nomination as the Bosch representative for the CESA Young Engineer of the Year Award. • Involvement in various company activities and meetings with the Chief Executive, which provides overall leadership development. The first Bosch young engineer to receive the award and to benefit from the development programme is Jaco Kotzé, Pr Eng, Elec Eng, who is based in Port Elizabeth. Brazil’s São Martinho sugar factory where Bosch Engenharia is installing a new CVP In July 2013 Bosch Engenharia sold their first ever Continuous Vacuum Pan (CVP) to the São Martinho mill in Brazil. This new CVP is vital to São Martinho’s plan to crush 10 million tons of cane through their factory in 2014. This will be the biggest crop ever to be crushed in one year by one factory. The 280m3 double compartment CVP for B massecuite will be commissioned in March 2014. This is a turnkey project, which includes the supply of the pan, condenser, structure, massecuite receiver, pumps, instrumentation and automation. [email protected]
