11 Bosch Munitech conducts emergency repairs to eMalahleni pump station to secure water supply Bosch Munitech recently completed work on its appointment as lead ME&I contractor for the Emalahleni Local Municipality Water Services Emergency Rehabilitation Intervention contract Phase 1. The project scope encompassed the full mechanical, electrical and instrumentation refurbishment of the 120Ml/d Emalahaleni Water Treatment Works and associated bulk infrastructure. Munitech artisan teams worked for a continuous 48 hours to ensure promises to the client and communities were kept with a minimum disruption to water services. [email protected] During the operational risk assessment of the town’s water treatment and bulk delivery infrastructure, Bosch Munitech identified the main booster pump station as a particularly high risk to eMalahleni’s water supply security. The pump station supplies water to 90% of businesses and households in eMalahleni and was in urgent need of mechanical and electrical refurbishment. A detailed refurbishment assessment was undertaken and the R2.6million additional emergency funding required was secured to undertake the necessary refurbishment works. The implementation works required a major shutdown of the entire bulk reticulation network and a maximum period of 48 hours allocated to Bosch Munitech to complete the work. Site work was preceded by an extensive public awareness campaign and draining of all the downstream reservoirs to allow the replacement of the delivery manifold.
