Bill was able to reminisce with Michael about the role we played in introducing diffusion into South Africa in the 1970’s. The recent installation of our new diffuser technology into UCL Company Limited and now in Brazil (via Bosch Projects do Brasil), is just one illustration of why Bosch P ro j e c t s i s i n t e r n a t i o n a l l y recognised as one of the leading Sugar Engineering Consultancies. Chairman’s report The most pressing issue on everyone’s mind these days appears to be the uncertain and volatile world markets and in particular, what impact this will have on the South African economy. ecent political statements would, h o w e v e r, i n d i c a t e a c o n t i n u i n g Government commitment to infrastructure spend. This should have a positive impact on both consultants and contractors, together with their sub-contractors and suppliers further down the supply chain. The spin-off from this should create ongoing and potentially increasing employment, which in turn will form a catalyst for other businesses and improved economic stability, something that we clearly all need. R Bill Bosch, (our Group founder), with his son Roger (Head of Mechanical Engineering in Bosch Projects) and Michael Gibbon (MD of Bosch Projects). A commendation for SBA’s Port Elizabeth office SBA’s Port Elizabeth office received a commendation at the recent prestigious CESA/Glenrand MIB 2008 Engineering Excellence Awards for the erosion protection of the Churchill Pipelines project. As a Group we continue to diversify, not only to reduce business risk, but also to supply new career opportunities so critical in a continuing scarce skills market and to meet Clients’ changing needs. SBA continues its regional growth and all offices have contributed to this. Bosch Projects, on the back of its recognised technical expertise, has expanded its R&D programme in patented technology and has also established an office in Brazil. Munitech now provides innovative packaged solutions for mobile treatment plants. Within the above, we still believe that our services will be differentiated by delivery, quality, innovation and value. In addition, we are also able to make available the full range of Group company services and products through any individual company or regional office. I am pleased to confirm, as indicated in our last Enginuity edition, that we have been formally BEE rated by EmpowerDex with a minimum Level 4 (100% recognition) across the Group. It is hoped that the public sector will standardise on the legislated BEE Codes to bring consistency to the tendering market and move away from the plethora of evaluation processes that are currently applied. It has certainly been a challenging year for the construction industry and the B&A Group in particular. We are however, confident that we can continue to exceed our Clients’ expectation in service delivery into the future. We wish you all well over the festive season.
