Nursing College conditional assessments progressing well
Bosch Stemele, Bosch Projects, the Development Bank
of South Africa and the National Department of Health
were involved in the conditional assessments of 121 nursing
colleges across all provinces over the past 6 months. For this
project an assessment team from each of the Bosch Stemele
regional offices visited individual facilities to report on the
condition and upgrading requirements per facility.
Additionally, Bosch Stemele will assist with the initiation of
a contractor procurement process to have seven facilities
upgraded as part of the first phase of upgrades.
The expansion requirements of each facility is also being
considered, to ensure that forward planning is done that will
take the required student increases, up to the year 2025, into
account. To accomplish this, Bosch Stemele engaged with the
CSIR to develop space norms for nursing colleges that are now
being implemented to calculate the training room type and
number to be added to each facility. These additions are then
translated into Departmental budget requirements.
This project forms part of the Department
of Health’s wider strategy to improve the
standard of health care in South Africa
and Bosch Stemele is proud to be part of
the solution.
