06 Bosch Munitech Commences Operations at the Bronkhorstspruit Biogas Plant The Bronkhorstspruit Biogas Plant generates 4MW of electricity, for export via the Eskom grid to BMW, in a biological digestion process that converts agricultural waste into green energy. The plant was designed and installed by Bosch Projects on a turnkey basis with Bosch Munitech subcontracted to undertake the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation construction works. Bosch Munitech assisted Bosch Projects in commissioning the plant and is contracted to operate and maintain the plant for a 5 year period. Early operational activities have included development of the Annual Operating Plan; maintenance programmes; operation and process management protocols; the Occupational Health and Safety Plan and risk analysis, as well as staff training. The power plant started bioprocess commissioning in April 2015, with engine commissioning commencing in August 2015. The plant has performed well and has come on line well within the project commissioning timeframes. This flagship project is the first of its kind in South Africa and Bosch Munitech is proud to be the plant operator. Bronkhorstspruit Biogas Plant. Right: Dry Solids Load Facility.
