Successful partnership - Biolasa reaches target of
500 000 tons of cane in 2017
By way of a partnership over the past
6 years, Bosch Engenharia has been
leading a great project at Biolasa mill,
located in Goiás, Brazil.
The physicist, civil engineer and
entrepreneur Paulo Gontijo was born in
1932 in Minas Gerais. He is remembered
for founding the agribusiness complex
LASA in Goiás. Upon his passing in
2002, his legacy was left to his heirs,
who have kept their father’s dream alive.
In 2012, when the LASA distillery was
going through a rehabilitation process
and was crushing 300 000 tons of
cane per year, Bosch Engenharia was
appointed to operate and maintain the
distillery. The objective was to provide
industrial efficiency and technology
improvements, to augment milling
production and ethanol generation. An
audacious goal was set at 500 000
tons of cane per year.
Improvements introduced by Bosch
Engenharia included triangulation of
mills, checking equipment suitability,
repairs, fermentation adjustments for a
combat system, heat exchangers and
evaporator installations.
In achieving the target of 500 000 tons
of cane in 2017, the milling production
record was broken. Thanks to this
success, the group investors now have
an even bigger vision – they want to
stretch the milling production target to
700 000 tons of cane for 2018, which
Bosch Engenharia is already striving for.
