Bosch Ulwazi partners with BMW to promote skills development

As a global player , the automotive company BMW maintains world class standards and invests in a highly skilled and motivated workforce .
Bosch Ulwazi was commissioned by BMW for overall management of a “ Production Machine Operator in the Motor Industry ” skills programme for staff . The skills training was offered to 1 109 factory staff and took place at the Rosslyn automotive manufacturing plant near Pretoria at the end of 2016 , during the company ’ s annual maintenance shutdown . The programme has been subject to moderation and is recognised as a qualification accredited by MerSETA ( Manufacturing , Engineering and Related Services Sector Education Training Authority ).

The five modules of this programme were :
• Operate and monitor production machines
• Work in a team
• Verify compliance to safety , health and environmental requirements in the workplace
• Explain the individuals ’ role within business
• Demonstrate and understanding of HIV / AIDS and its impact on the workplace .

City building in Albert Street , Johannesburg , converted into impressive social housing

The mandate of the Johannesburg Social Housing Company ( JOSHCO ) is to deliver affordable and sustainable housing in Johannesburg . In 2016 Bosch Projects was requested by the Client to undertake a building assessment and propose suitable recommendations for a low-cost housing project .
The project location is an old building that JOSHCO acquired , at 133 Albert Street in the southern part of central Johannesburg . The aim of the project was to create quality social housing that complies with all legislative requirements and provides safe housing for single people , as well as small families .
Bosch Projects scope of services was the assessment ; feasibility report ; design and construction monitoring for the refurbishment of the building . The estimated construction cost is R25 million .
• Design of electrical infrastructure
• Design of HVAC infrastructure
• Design of Fire System infrastructure
• Specification of the Lift infrastructure
• Providing effective and safe Social Housing according to the SANS , SABS and JOSCHO standards
• Ensuring that the specified hardware is used , to ensure maximum benefit to be enjoyed by the end user .
The project is expected to be completed by April 2018 .
