10 Bosch Projects expands its Cape Town office The offices of Bosch Projects in Cape Town have recently relocated to new premises at the Tygervalley Chambers building complex in the northern suburbs. This is due to the strong growth and expansion over the past years, with the consequence that additional office space is needed to house the growing number of staff. The regional team in the past year has driven growth on the 55-year track record of Bosch Holdings, in industrial and building sectors. The result of this is that the regional team has secured a diversity of new projects, in addition to existing public-sector infrastructure workload. Internal view of the new offices Worth noting is the growing position of Bosch Projects in sustainability projects. We have provided water-wise and energy-efficient solutions to land developers and industrial clients who are seeking savings in operational costs. In recent months, the water shortage in Cape Town has triggered a rise in requests to harvest rainwater, and to reduce, reuse and recycle grey water. Bosch Projects has active projects in the property sector that is currently showing above-average growth in the region. We deliver a full range of planning, engineering design and supervision services to residential, commercial and industrial developments. The subsequent construction contract has been awarded to WK Construction. The full scope of this 4-phased project will entail 4.2km of sewer pipes that are 1 500mm and 1 200mm in diameter. This augmentation will address the sewerage requirements for the existing and future developments for the western suburbs of Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality. Phase 1 of the project entails augmentation of the existing 1 050mm diameter line with 1 850m of 1 500mm concrete HDPE-lined sewer. The new sewer line starts at Driftsands Wastewater Treatment Works, runs parallel to the existing line, then branches off to by- pass the planned ACSA extension of the Port Elizabeth Airport Runway. Sewer pipe excavation Over and above the 1 850m of 1 500mm ø Concrete HDPE lined sewer, the contract bill of quantities for Phase 1 entails 26 manhole structures, one diversion chamber, one division chamber and bulk earthworks. The depth of the trench excavation varies between 1m and 6m deep, with imported fill. The contract document requires that 25% of the contract value be set aside for the development of emerging subcontractors, who will be employed from the local community. This contract (Phase 1) is still in progress and the due date for completion is November 2018. Rowan Bode [email protected] Laying of sewer pipes
