Celebrating Allied Health
By Martin Chadwick, Executive Director Allied
Health, Scientific and Technical. Acknowledgment was noted within the following categories:
•
Team of the year
Earlier this month Allied Health staff from
across the BOPDHB came together with a
single purpose, to celebrate! As it was the first
time pulling staff together in this way, there was
a real desire to acknowledge the richness of
what it is to be living in the Bay, and the people
we are here to serve. As such the beautiful
Mataatua Wharenui in Whakatāne was chosen
for this gathering. •
Graduate Award
•
Outstanding Contribution to Service Delivery
•
Allied Health Leadership Award
•
Allied Health Assistant of the Year
•
Supervisor of the Year
•
Outstanding Contribution to Quality improvement
•
Administrator of the Year
This allowed for those travelling over from Tauranga Moana to
be welcomed to the Eastern Bay. This reinforced that while Allied
Health may be the second largest workforce group employed by
the DHB, and be made up of many individual professions, we live
out our value of All-One-Team.
So while the focus was on gathering to celebrate, it was also a
time to acknowledge in a small way the excellent work carried out
by teams within the teams, and individuals who make up the team.

Over 140 teams/individuals were put forward for recognition,
and after the Pohiri, there was an opportunity for staff to read
these nominations that were posted on the walls while they
had refreshments. Quite simply there was no way one team
or individual could be recognised, and so multiple teams and
individuals were celebrated in each category. But above all,
the focus was on celebrating what Allied Health is, and the
contribution our team makes in providing services to the people of
the Bay. Personally, it is immensely pleasing to be associated with
this wonderful team, and look to support and serve them in the
amazing job they do day in and day out.
