Want to improve
your digital
skills?
Kim Brown, Learning Technology Trainer, is here to
help you.
How long have you been at
BOPDHB?
I’ve been here for six months. I emigrated from the UK in 1999, lived
in Hawke’s Bay, before moving to Brisbane for a few years. I got
homesick there so moved back to New Zealand to the place we fell
in love with when we first emigrated – the wonderful Bay of Plenty.
Why be a Technology Trainer?
I’ve been teaching and training for more than 25 years. I
developed a fascination for all things technology when my son was
young, I figured I had better upskill myself to teach him computing,
and it has remained with me.
What drives you?
Motivating people to take control of their learning and "do it
for themselves" regardless of their skill level, is my drive. I can
identify a learner's personal strengths, raise their confidence and
encourage them in their learning. I am passionate about improving
literacy levels including Digital!
What’s happening in the digital
learning space?
We’ve developed Midland Learning courses called Just in Time for
Microsoft products and Digital Literacy and are providing trainer
supported workshops too.
These workshops run for 1½ hours are are packed with useful tips/
tricks. I’m also working with people at their workstations. I’ll come
to you whether you’re on the ward in an office or in the café in both
hospitals.
