As we approach the 2017 Influenza season it ’ s time to get vaccinated . Influenza vaccination is free for all BOPDHB staff , including those who work for the organisation on a voluntary basis .
This year ’ s Seasonal influenza vaccine will offer protection against the following strains :
• A ( H1N1 ): an A / Michigan / 45 / 2015 ( H1N1 ) - like virus ( new strain )
• A ( H3N2 ): an A / Hong Kong / 4801 / 2014 ( H3N2 ) - like virus
• B / Brisbane / 60 / 2008 - like virus .
Tried and proven hygiene measures are our first line of defence against influenza and simple measures can help prevent the spread of influenza . before touching patient

• Wash and dry your hands frequently .
• Cover coughs and sneezes .
• Stay away from work if you are sick .

Tauranga Hospital Outpatient Department , Ground floor
03 April – 28 April , week days between 08:00 - 16:00 .
No need to book , just show up . You will need to wait 20 minutes post vaccination unless you are returning to a clinical setting in which case , you may leave straight away as long as you ’ re wearing a ‘ Flu fighter ’ sticker indicating you ’ ve been immunised .
Trolley rounds
03 April – 28 April week days 10:30 - 15:30 , 16:30 - 21:00 , and 22:30 - 01:30
The vaccination trolley will be making its way to you in three shifts on week days . To find out when the trolley is likely to be in your department , text 027 705 9353 .
