Taking on Mt Everest at the Mount

A team from the Clinical Trials unit has accepted the Mount Everest Challenge raising funds for Tauranga ’ s Women ’ s Refuge .
The team and supporting family members are embracing the challenge and have so far reached the equivalent of the Mount Everest Base Camp . All going to plan , the team is on track to reach the summit by the deadline of 7 April .

Or drop off donations of household items , clothes etc . to the Clinical Trials Unit , 850 Cameron Rd . Items will be delivered to the Refuge Charity Shop after the challenge .

Aotearoa Bike Challenge – DHB in top three

The Healthy Living Team wishes to thank you all for participating and look forward to seeing you for Bike month in 2018 .
Be safe and Ride on .
• Be Seen - Wear high visibility or brightly coloured clothing and use lights .
• Be Aware - Watch for car doors opening , potholes , rubbish , grates , and pedestrians . Always check for left turning vehicles .
• Be Predictable - Make eye contact with other road users . Maintain a straight line and don ' t pass on the left hand side .

Thanks to all of you who participated in the Aotearoa Bike Challenge marking bike month .
We finished in third place in the workplace challenge for organisations with more than 500 staff in our region and 13th in this category nationwide .
On top of the numerous prizes up for grabs through the Aotearoa Bike Challenge website , we also had biking prizes to give away for the cyclists among us . The winners are as follows :
Robert Carston , Martin Steinmann , Stephen Robinson , Helen Surgeoner , Sarah Stevenson , Kiri Peita , Marian Marama , Ellie Enright , Jesse Voyce , Nikki Moore and Robert Hall .
• Be Confident - Use hand signals and a bell . Ride at least one metre from parked cars . Use the cycle or traffic lane .
• Be Safe - Follow the road rules and choose the safest route .
• Be Patient - Slow down near parked or lined up vehicles . Pass slowly and only when safe .
• Be Prepared - Wear an approved helmet and check your bike regularly - brakes , tyres , chain , lights , reflectors .
