Celebrating Matariki
In this issue we look back on our recent
Matariki celebrations.
Matariki is the name for the cluster of stars also
known as the Pleiades, Seven Sisters, Messier
45 and Subaru. The rising of Matariki marks
the Māori New Year, a time for remembrance,
reconnection and new beginnings.
The Matariki Blues brothers featuring staff from both Whakatāne and Tauranga
wowed the crowd at a special lunchtime concert.
Staff joined together for a whakatau tinana (tai chi) class in Whakatāne.
Julie Robinson (Director of Nursing), Helen Mason (Chief Executive) celebrating
the beginning of Matariki with Anamaria Watene (Nurse Leader Kaupapa Ward).
