Tauranga Cardiology Service has moved

The Tauranga Cardiology Service - Clinical Physiology relocated on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 July to L2 , Building 50 with business as usual from the new premises on Monday 18 July . The service has relocated “ around the corner ” from L2 central core to L2 B50 .
The new premises includes :
• 4 cardiology outpatient consulting rooms - all equipped for telehealth video clinics .
• 3 ECG rooms – one multipurpose for ambulatory monitoring and additional Spirometry testing .
• 3 echo scanning rooms and a reporting room .
• A pacemaker clinic also with the facility for telehealth video clinics .
• An exercise room for cardiac and respiratory patients VO2 max metabolic testing .
• A Respiratory Laboratory which has been designed in-line with specific airflow requirements , which will improve calibration accuracy and patient test results .
The outpatient waiting area seats up to 24 people and includes a child ’ s play area .
The design of the layout of the new floor works on a specific in and outpatient pathway , with a separate in-patient waiting area , which has sufficient space for bed and wheelchair wait . The storage and utility

areas have been modelled on ICU / CCU wards .
Later in the year we will open the proposed Cath Lab with both pre and post-patient areas included in the design .
There are two 4-bedded wards included in the L2 B50 .
The vacated pods on the central core will be refurbished for cardiology admin support , consultant cardiologists and nurse practitioner offices .
The more pleasant and accessible surroundings will further improve the patient experience .

New chaplain for staff & patients

We welcome Leanne Brooks who has joined Tauranga Hospital ’ s Chaplaincy Team .
For Leanne it is a privilege to be in this role .
" Being in hospital can be a stressful time not only for the patient but also family and loved ones . For me , my heart has always been my compass and my heart is fully about caring for people . It ’ s about being available to help people in a time of need and to help them understand their situation ."
Leanne has moved from Christchurch with her husband Hamish and their daughter Hannah . She worked in health prior to joining the Tauranga-based chaplaincy team at Christchurch and Burwood hospitals .
The Tauranga Hospital Chaplaincy Team ( comprising Sam , Shelley and Leanne ) offer confidential and compassionate support , prayer and a listening ear in times of stress or loneliness to patients their families / whānau and staff members of all faiths and no faith .
The team is available before and after surgery ; journey alongside people in health crisis , assist those experiencing loss and bereavement , look after matters of faith and illness , and also in celebrating the joys of life . The team help patients resolve anger , guilt fear and is a listening ear to those in need and provide this in a safe and confidential environment .
The Chaplaincy Team is also here for the staff to support them in their own personal times of crises or need . The Chaplaincy Office is located opposite the Chapel on the ground floor , Tauranga Hospital and can be contacted any time through Telephony .
