In our Library collections …
By Librarian Lynley Whitaker.
Our DHB has a broad range of subjects in
its libraries. Unless you sign up for a library
orientation or are a super catalogue user, you
may be unaware of our special collections.
One of these is the bicultural collection. This
was developed as a stand alone collection
in the mid 1990s to coincide with the roll out
of the Treaty of Waitangi training workshops
in Whakatāne. Since then, the collection
has grown from a core of Treaty and Māori
health resources to encompass more subjects
including pronunciation and grammar and even
a small flowering of Māori fiction.
We welcome and encourage staff to offer suggestions for books
they would like to see and also to remind people that all staff are
welcome to use our libraries. You don’t have to be a clinician to be
a library borrower.
