SIU Objectives
•
Provide support for improvement in the organisation through
expertise, experience, relationships and an agreed set of tools
for beginning and closing improvement projects.
•
Facilitate positive change and improvement within the
organisation and across the BOPDHB population through
coaching, mentoring and support in navigating change.
By offering project mentoring and methodology advice through a
project journey this spreads SIU expertise more widely through
the organisation and helps create capacity and capability for
improvement into the future. We all know change is sometimes
difficult and this mentoring helps with resilience.
The core quality improvement course supported by SIU is the
Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Open School with the
more recently released IHI -HarvardX Massive Open Online
Course (MOOC) also available and being trialled by the SIU team.
•

quality improvement practices that are patient-centred and
utilise improvement science expertise.
