How to write symbols by using keyboard codes
Question : Do you want to include symbols in your Word documents such as a half , quarter or degree symbols but struggle to find them ?
Answer : ALT codes . These are numbers you type into your document while holding down the ALT keyboard key and using the numeric keypad .
Steps
1 . Find Alt code ( list of common symbols is below with lots more in Google ).
2 . Turn on your keyboard Num Lock . The Num Lock key is on the keyboard ' s right side . The Num Lock light above the keypad will ‘ light up ’.
3 . Hold down the ALT keyboard key and type the numbers in using the Numeric Keypad .
4 . Let go of all the keys .
If you did everything right then the symbol will appear . For example , hold down ALT then type 0189 . This will display ½ ( half ).
