For me, Christmas became that time of the
year which most of the modern Western society
now experiences. It became a time of endurance,
because I couldn’t really understand it, couldn’t
really embrace it, and was reluctant to shell out
the pocket money I had been saving to join it.
Christmas? Bah humbug!
Oh Scrooge, how I understood you. At least, I
thought I did.
