Greetings, colleagues and fellow researchers!
It is this time of year again when Research and Development takes center stage
as we showcase our research and creative output and share it with the rest of
the University. The success of Paliwanagan sa UP Diliman in the last two years
in creating public awareness and appreciation of R&D, regardless of discipline or
area of specialization, is proof enough that we care not only about our own work
in our small unit but also recognize the initiatives of our colleagues in the larger UP
community. More importantly, it reflects our willingness to collaborate, to understand,
and to celebrate each other’s work.
Looking at the next pages of this Book of Abstracts will make us realize the
breadth, scope, and depth of the research and creative output of our fellow
faculty from fourteen academic units who will engage in a dialogue and discourse
in the spirit of enlightened exchange of knowledge. Topics that range from
alleviating poverty to understanding the Filipino psyche, from the Bangsamoro
struggle to Philippine music history, from creating sustainable communities to
