Floating
Bonsai in
Delft
The event 'Bonsai of the West' had its
11th edition on the weekend 10th-11th
June. The TU Delft's Botanical Garden
again served as venue, which is itself 100
years old.
On Friday, with the help of numerous
volunteers, we worked hard so as to get
everything ready for the two days of this
outdoor event.
On both days the weather was fine. The
'Floating Bonsai — art objects' by Patrick
Bergsma are a great eye-catcher and they
formed this year's theme: 'Past, present,
future'.
In addition to the exhibition, a number
of screens had been set up showing the
top trees that have been featured on the
promotional posters of Bonsai of the West
in recent years.

first day, a Taxus, sponsored by Bonsai
Plaza. Bonsai workshops held in one of
the garden pavilions were given by Edwin
Koppers and Martin Bonvie. Then on the
second day it's Yannick Kiggen's turn to
style a large Taxus. Both demo trees were
raffled after the demo.
They were two great days and worth all
the effort. After closing and clearing up
we are ready for next year's event in the
beautiful botanical gardens of Delft.
