THE KNOW HOW
Parent’s Corner
I am a single mother of two, a son and daughter; my daughter is in the
7 th grade and attends Lange Middle school, my son is in the 10 th grade at
Battle High School. Both of my children are very active in school, which
leaves me being, mom, dad, taxi driver, doctor and the list can continue.
Monday through Friday my day begins at 6 am and ends close to 10 pm.
I rarely get to spend time to myself and when I do get that time I just like
to relax and do absolutely NOTHING! We all read books and stories
about what we should do for ourselves and how to make life easier and
of course I have tried them all (or at least some of them), but it never
lasts too long. To make my household work, we have to keep schedules, I
need to know what day each child has to be where, what time they begin
and end, how much money do you need and how are you getting home?
When these four questions have been answered my stress and anxiety
levels are pretty normal but if I don’t know them…… it is a tornado!! Now
that the weather has broken and our days are longer, my goal is to have
more leisure activities: walking, yard work, etc.. I think this is my start!
Being a parent is far from easy, and I guess I got the wrong memo when
I was told that it got easier as they grew. As an adult, I know that taking
time for myself is needed but I know the reward, in the end, is going to be
much greater and that is being a proud parent of two successful young
adults. Then my children can take care of me!!
