GROUNDS
Summer is here and the club is thriving on the golf
course! There has been a lot of golf so far this season
and it’s been great seeing all the members enjoying
the golf course! The weather has been great for golf,
but the lack of rainfall in June kept us busy keeping
up with watering. Many nights we have been running
300,000 gallons of water through our irrigation
system. Each day we designate 2-4 team members
to hand water greens, collars, and surrounds to
supplement the irrigation. We have been able to
keep greens in great shape! They are rolling quick
and smooth. The added heat and dry conditions
have slowed the growth of the roughs down, but
the fairways, tees, and collars are finally getting
accelerated growth. Overall the golf course is in
great shape, so enjoy!
After many months we are finally back to normal
golf operations. The noodle in the cup has been
removed and flagsticks can be taken out. Bunker
rakes have been placed back out on the golf course
as well as trash cans and ball washers. Thanks for all
your cooperation during the lengthy restricted period.
Please remember to hit within the ropes at the
practice facility. Practicing from the designated area
will allow for a more even distribution of wear.
This results in a scheduled rotation that allows for
recovery in growth so we can maintain the tee
complex throughout the season. Many of you are
following the directions displayed on the sign for
divot control. If everyone can buy into this, it will
result in much quicker recovery of the turfgrass on
the tee. Cart path restrictions are currently 90 degrees
to your golf ball. Carts must stay in the fairway. Do
not drive in the roughs. You must exit at the blue
stake. Following this rule will result in withstanding
traffic wear and promoting better turf and playing
conditions. Thanks in advance for understanding why
we restrict cart traffic at BHCC.

Last month we completed a lot of tree trimming
which will be ongoing through the season. Many
branches were trimmed to help open up this side of
the fairway. Sod was laid behind #8 green, finishing
the Cole Creek project once and for all. The short
game practice area now has a bunker! This will be
a great area to practice chipping, pitching and
bunker shots!
