FROM THE GOLF SHOP We hope that everyone is doing well and staying safe. With many businesses being closed due to COVID-19, we have seen a significant increase in the rounds of golf played in relation to this time last year. We are happy to see many of you out, even if it was through a window for a while. Now that the Clubhouse has opened, we are starting to receive orders from vendors that were previously put on hold. We are trying to have a few golf events that do not require shotgun starts or large gatherings. We have opened the driving range and club manufacturers have found ways to put safety precautions in place allowing them to host fitting or demo days. As I write this letter, it is hard to determine what our tournament, junior, and league schedules will look like for the month of June and beyond. Please be on alert for emails, Clubster blasts, and signage around the Clubhouse for the most up-to-date information on these events. The one upcoming event that I currently know we are hosting is the Senior Club Championships on June 13–14. This is a new tournament for Bogey this year, and it will allow members age 55 and older the chance to compete. There will be a Championship and Open Division for both men and women. Championship Divisions will play stroke play with no handicaps and the Open Division will play in a Stableford format with players receiving 95% of their course handicap. We have postponed The Heritage Men’s Member-Guest until August 20–22. With the current restrictions in place, the tournament committee decided it was best to delay this event in the hopes of hosting the tournament under less restrictions. As of right now, we are planning all events surrounding the tournament, including the practice round on Thursday with putting contest and closest to the pin competitions, the evening of August 20, with 45 holes of competition spread out over two days. Sit-down dinner will be on Friday, August 21, and the Shoot-Out will follow play on Saturday, August 22. It is sure to be one of the best events of the year! Email Neely at [email protected] to register; deadline to sign up is July 5. The golf shop has received many of its first spring shipments, including men’s FootJoy, Nike, Donald Ross, and Johnnie-O and women’s Tail, Greg Norman, Annika, and Bermuda Sands. We’ve also received a shipment of Nike junior clothes
