What made you cross over into hip hop? Because Music is music and Wino Willy kept sending me rap beats! [Laughs] I was a singer at the time so I was like “Well what the f*ck am I to do with these?” and now I actually really like rapping more than I like singing. Coming up with new flows new, ways to say things and such is just so fun to me. I also REALLY enjoy experimenting with other genres with hip hop too. Nothing sounds doper to me than a Hype band, a Dope DJ, and a Nasty a** Rapper on stage. Being called a “female” hip hop artist is a pet peeve of yours, why? I’ll try to break this down so even the most Sexist stuck in the 1930s hip-hop head can understand. When I go to school I don’t call my professor a “Female Professor”. When I go to the store my cashier is not a “female cashier” She is just a Professor and a Cashier. You are separating our art by calling us all these unnecessary titles like ”Femcee”. [DON’T EVER CALL ME THAT IF YOU ARE READING THIS ARTICLE, THIS IS YOUR WARNING!] ARTISTS SIDE NOTE* Now I will say this, I am NOT saying I don’t consider myself a female because I in fact love being a woman, more importantly I love being a woman of color. However, dope Art has no gender.
