Southwest Virginia Community College Southwest Virginia Community College (SVCC) is a two-year institution that is part of Virginia’s state-wide system of community colleges serving Tazewell County and other surrounding counties. With over 80 associate degree programs, SVCC provides quality educational and cultural enrichment opportunities for lifelong learners, the workforce, and community. SVCC is home to many supporting services for the region. Home to the Small Business Development Center, students and community members interested in starting a business or expanding a current business can find assistance through a caring staff. The Community Chorus has performed around the world and has produced many outstanding concerts for residents. The Appalachian Arts Center highlights the best of the Arts in Southwest Virginia. Located just off campus, the center is open to visitors as a gallery with pieces available for purchase as well. Tazewell County Public Schools K-12 education in Tazewell County not only includes great elementary education, athletics, and AP course work. The Tazewell County Career and Technical Center offers career training programs including: automotive technology, collision repair/ auto body, small engine/motorcycle repair, welding, masonry, economics/personal finance, criminal justice, cosmetology, carpentry and cabinetmaking, and certified nursing assistant training.
