PARKS & PLANNING
The renovation of Seasons Four Park, 600 Old Farm Road, Roselle, was completed in the
spring of 2015. The renovation included:
• New playground structures for ages 2-5 and 5-12, with color schemes chosen by
Seasons Four residents
• Re-paving of the basketball court and parking lot, including a new, accessible parking spot
• New message center installed
• New solar-powered security lights
• Four new benches and two new trash receptacles
• Five new trees planted around the playground
Phase I of the Community Gardens was completed in 2014-15. The phase included the
creation of three display gardens administered by the Bloomingdale Garden Club, DuPage
Master Gardeners and the Roselle Park District Garden Club. All food harvested from the
initial three plots was donated to local food pantries. See the Looking Ahead section on Page
8 for Phase II information.
The tennis courts at Lakeview Park (two) and Indian Lakes Park (one) were completely replaced
in 2014-15. Additionally, lines for pickleball play were added at the court at Indian Lakes Park.
Twenty-one Ash trees were removed from Westlake Park; while two cottonwoods were
removed from Circle Park, and one Silver Maple was removed from the Museum property.
Thirteen trees were planted, five around the new playground at Seasons Four Park, one at
Lakeview Park, five at Westlake Park, one at Erie Park and one at Sunnyside Park.
Annual stewardship management contracts at natural areas in Springfield Park and
Sunnyside Park were implemented in 2014-15.
The Storybook Trail, a collaborative effort with the Bloomingdale Public Library, was
installed in August in Circle Park. The family-friendly trail features 17 signs that combine to
make up one story. The stories are changed each season.
A new informational sign adjacent to the Museum was installed in November, 2014. The
Bloomingdale Lions Club generously donated resources for the new sign.
Make a Difference Day, a collaboration between the Park District and Wolff Construction
of Roselle, wash held October 24, 2014 at Springfield Park. The day featured removal of
invasive species, native seed plantings, pick-up of trash and litter, and a barbecue.
A new CHARACTER COUNTS! mural was painted on the Springfield Park concession
building. The mural was painted by art students at Westfield Middle School under the
direction of award-winning art teacher Deyana Matt.
In a collaboration with the Village of Bloomingdale, split-rail fencing was replaced along
the drainage ditch in Circle Park and Westlake Park.
