So , if I ’ m a French teacher and have 10 years of experience and my drive is to improve my teaching skills , then I would follow the master the art and science of teaching ? Yes , it is very much like that . What would happen by definition is that the model will make teachers reexamine the content , because it is very much based on what we know about how people learn , the nature of knowledge . One of the problems with teaching as an art is that teachers in their subject area are experts in that area , and that is good . But that doesn ’ t necessarily help them to teach students who aren ’ t experts . So teachers can see why this strategy works with this student , and this strategy with these students , and what area is lacking . It is designed to shake things up , how we look at the content and therefor teaching . transformatie
A little while ago John Hattie came out with his list of 200 things to do and not to do . So it is like a recipe for success . What is your opinion about this ? What he has identified are really broad categories . A lot of those deal with things that are outside the teachers control . The ones that are in the teachers control , they still have to be organized . There is a variable called microteaching , I think it is number 6 . And the art and science of teaching is very much about microteaching . Microteaching means that you focus on a very specific skill . And you work on that skill until you get better .
If we look at the next phase of teaching with the upcoming robotics . Do you think it is possible that a lot of teaching will be done with electronics and the quality process will still be done by teachers ? Yes , there is a term here in the US , computer based education . Which means that students move at their own pace through content . And they could learn content and be assessed on content at any time and any place . Which means that they have access to the content , the assessments and the embellishments , virtually . Some people say that we can totally replace the classroom teacher , but that is not the case . You can replace the new presentation of content . Why would a teacher have to design new
