On November 5, 2016 BLAQUELINE Entertainment attended Austin’s premier Derby Party! - The Boots & Pearls Victory Cup. This networking and social event was attended by a few thousand people and included food, drinks and retail vendors from the central Texas area.
At the Victory Cup Boots & Pearls Polo Match, guests were treated to wine tastings, delicious Texas size burgers, a classic car show and a children's area. Yes, there was even a polo match. Because of the large crowd and limited viewing area, it was tough to watch the actual polo match, but that was not an issue since there was so much more entertainment to partake in.
The large tent filled auction was simply amazing, with items ranging from NFL and collegiate memorabilia to spectacular vacation packages. Let's not forget about the after-party on the farm with jazz trumpeter, Jeff Lofton.
While this event boasted lots of fun, energy and excitement - if it's your first
time attending, wear the proper polo attire especially comfortable shoes. My
experience, while uber fun, was halted briefly due to the fact that I had to
walk in wet grass, over cow dung and down a hill to stand up for hours. Even
for a Texas girl, this was a rough patch. After finally arriving, I was simply
impressed. The organizers of the event - Joe Bachmeier, Greg Ball and Matt
Mackowiak made it all worth it.
The rain came down (a little), however there was still a bit of the crisp fall air
circulating and the people watching was delighful...why? Who doesn't like to
get all dressed up in their best boots, denim, dresses and pearls for a great
day of polo and attention?
The Victory Cup gets a 4.5 star for the fun, relaxed environment and
their donations to various charities. But journalists love to network, it's
how we find great stories (right?). Perhaps if there was a social and
networking tent the event would have been more awesome. I submitted
my request for 2017, let's see what happens.
