On March 1, 2016 friends and supporters came together for the Gary Cobb for District Attorney Watch Party.
The media surrounded Cobb and his wife as they enter to a loud applause, cheering from the crowd and flashes from cell phones.
However, the cheers would soon begin to turn into concern as the polls are starting to favor the other candidate, Margaret Moore.
Hours later, the crowd slowly begins to thin, the news is revealed; Gary Cobb loses the bid to be the next District Attorney for Travis County.
Born in Mississippi, Gary Cobb is no stranger to hard work and understanding the importance of doing what it takes to be a positive influence in the lives of those that require direction. A graduate from Mississippi State University and The UT School of Law, Cobb is a role model for the Austin, Texas Community; a Community that has been plagued with unfairness and the short comings of diversity.
Cobb embraces the challenges in the courtroom, which is evident in the cases that he takes on. He has prosecuted over 200 cases, many of them high profile - cases that others believed would not result in a conviction due to their complexity.
When asked why he chooses to take on such difficult cases, he simply said "confidence". Cobb walks in the courtroom as the voice for the victim and their family.
Cobb took a man to trial for murder in the death of his estranged wife although her body has never been found. The defendant was not only found guilty, he was sentenced to life in prison.
Cobb's tireless commitment to his family, the community, the Travis County Distirct Attorney's Office and the victims he speak for, make him an inspiration to all.
In addition to his hectic schedule as the Assistant District Attorney, Cobb still finds time to serve on the boards of many community organizations, mentor and supervise other attorney's in the DA's office and lecture on the platforms of the Texas District and County Attorneys Association and the Austin Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
Cobb is the true defintion of integrity, commitment, dedication and the epitome of what it means to inspire beyond your environment.
