HI-FIVE

A Different Kiss

Sometimes the public forgets that artists are human and have emotions...

BLAQUELINE: What is Hi-Fives key to longevity?

HI-FIVE: God first always. But you must remember where you came from and at least have an idea of where you want to go. I center myself around positive people and people who want to continue to do right. But it's a brotherhood and it's good to see brothers doing something positive and if I can be a part of it, God bless it.

BLAQUELINE: I heard Shannon Gill say in an interview that you guys will be singing forever and will grow old together, is this true?

HI-FIVE: Yes and I (Marcus Sanders) would love for it to be true, but like we say God's will. But as long as people want to hear the music, we are going to try and give it to them.

BLAQUELINE: Let your fans know about the journey to the Hi-Five comeback.

HI-FIVE: We are trying to move as easy as possible. We are mature now, but we still have people that do not understand that Hi-Five has to move on in order to preserve our legacy. We want the fans that do not understand to try to have an open heart and try to put God in their heart; we will continue to bring good music to all of the true Hi-Five fans.

BLAQUELINE: Give me a rock hard answer on what it takes to remain relevant. I want an answer that has helped you guys.

HI-FIVE (Marcus Sanders): That's a good question, because I do not know if it's one simple answer I can give you. It's a struggle because sometimes the negative energy can be over-powering. But you have to keep the faith within yourself and surround yourself with people that encourage you and believe in you. If you want it bad enough, you will make the change to get it.

TRESTON IRBY: I have faith and I believe in myself and I believe in what we are doing. My faith is really strong.

During the interview we took a moment to bring more laughter to the conversation by having Treston Irby and Marcus Sanders fill in the blank to a question. After about 5 minutes we were finally able to get the suddenly shy Treston to give us an answer:

FILL IN THE BLANK - When a woman makes love to me, its like__________

Marcus Sanders: When a woman makes love to me, its like FIREWORKS

Treson Irby (5 minutes later): When a woman makes love to me, its like (crickets and then finally an answer)..."It's crazy because I do all kinds of things."

I shared many laughs with Hi-Five and in my own space, I cried tears. Not because of their pain and tragedy, but becuase of thier endurance and courage to keep standing. When I think I cannot go on or if I have a challenging day, I know that through it all, I can stay the course and move on. For their sincere honesty, patience and strength, I salute the men of Hi-Five. There is so much more in the audio interview with Hi-Five, which will be posted on YouTube at a later date.
