BLAQUELINE: You gentlemen are truly The Kings of Slow Jamz, but how does it feel to know that the ladies look at you guys as sexual icons because of the way you move sensually on the stage and the mature sounds of your music?

H-TOWN: We love and appreciate it very much.

BLAQUELINE: There are many loyal H-Town fans that just love the music regardless of the time between albums. But do you ever feel the pressure from your fans to command the same success you had in the early to mid-90’s?

H-TOWN: We could never duplicate it; we just try to do what we do best and continue to give them good music. That’s always our goal and we take our time putting out new music, so that we can give them the best of H-Town. We will not rush for anyone, you can’t rush good music.

BLAQUELINE: With social media being the main choice for promotions and awareness, would social media outlets such as Facebook and Reverbnation have played a major role in your music career had it been available when you first entered the music industry?

H-TOWN: Yes, if it was availabe. Because we could have covered a lot of ground real fast, world-wide.

I must first say what an honor and privilege it is to interview the Kings of Slow Jams, R&B Recording Artist, H-Town. Born and raised in Houston, Texas the original trio of twins Keven “Dino” Conner, Solomon “Shazam” Conner, and longtime friend Darryl “G.I.” Jackson made up H-Town. Sadly, Dino and his girlfriend Teshya passed away on January 28, 2003 in an automobile accident. After the tragic accident, the H-Town reunion tour was cancelled. They eventually released their reunion album Imitations of Life on October 12, 2004. Read more about my candid interview with Shazam and G.I. of H-Town.

BLAQUELINE: Is social media an important part of your current marketing strategy when you release new music and/or videos?

H-TOWN: Yes it is, but we still love to hit the road going city to city to promote at the clubs and radio stations. We love to be up close and personal with our fans.

BLAQUELINE: Does being an H-Town duo affect the business brand?

H-TOWN: No it doesn’t. We have been on the road touring as a duo for well over 11 years now.

BLAQUELINE: Does H-Town have a certain way they engage new, younger fans?

H-TOWN: We’re not trying to engage any particular age group. We’re just letting the music speak for us and if they like it they’ll spread it around. We also appreciate the consistent love from real music lovers.

BLAQUELINE: As I mentioned before, social media has been the distributor of choice for many artists, would you recommend artists look to be signed with a record label or remain independent?

H-TOWN: Independent is always the way to go if you can afford to. We have always been independent and have never been with a major record label.

BLAQUELINE: Will the “Child Support” album have any surprise collaborations?

H-TOWN: Yes. We have collabs with Jodeci, Lil Flip and Pretty Ricky as well.

BLAQUELINE: Has there ever been a moment when you guys thought about walking away from the music and just hanging up your mics?

H-TOWN: I don’t think we could ever give this up completely, but it was a thought. We could never just lay down and allow our legacy to die ( we work so hard to create it). We have the best fans in the world and they keep us wanting to give them more H-Town.

BLAQUELINE: Speaking of new music, in September 2014 you released your highly anticipated single “Green Light” off of your upcoming album titled “Child Support.” I have had the opportunity to listen to the song and I love it. Does this mean that we can expect more of the grown and sexy tunes that your fans have yearned for?

H-TOWN: Thank you and yes, the new cd is coming out February 2015. It will be very grown and sexy with a little twist of what’s going on in music today. But not too much because we are still H-Town.
