Which of your many stylish looks excites you till date ? That ’ s a difficult one . They are all my children .
If you have a $ 100 voucher , what three items would you like buy right away ? A multi-coloured sweater , a new blazer , a spring / summer tote bag . I doubt that I would be able to get all that with $ 100 though . Haha !
Do you think blogging can become a career ? If so , how lucrative do you think it would be on the long run ? I do think blogging can become a career but I do not believe that any blogger wants to blog for their entire lives . I see blogging as a platform to get to the next level . As bloggers generally , all we do is document our experiences and creative endeavours ; sort of a portfolio . Some of us are writers , some are photographers , some are models , and some are musicians . You ’ re putting out what you want the world to be aware of and if your work is tangible enough , it can be a set up for something greater as there is always a department of people who care about what you have to offer . This group of people who support your work are a reflection of what you put out and their support can contribute to where your line of work will fall . For example , some bloggers can graduate into being creative directors of fashion houses or personal stylists for huge names . Others can be authors of New York Times best seller books and others , can be reporters on CNN . It all depends on how good and focused you are on the end goal of your work . In a world where almost anything is accessible to technology , variety is glorified .
Are you blogging with a business angle to it or are you doing this for the fun ? I started blogging because I thought it would be fun to put myself in an industry that seldom included male figures . I started my blog because I was and am still very passionate about fashion and the creative arts . I wanted to express that in the hopes of being able to reach out to other people that were interested in my line of work with the purpose of growing and expanding my perspective . So , yes . I am blogging for fun but I do also consider business deals that fall on my lap as long as my readers can benefit from it and it stays true to my vision and values .
What do you think the future holds for the fashion blog-sphere ? Great question ! There are a lot of bloggers in the world right now so I can only predict that the market will continue to grow and evolve . When people look to read blogs , they look for someone or something they can learn from and relate to . It is part of the human nature to want to constantly grow and be aware . I think bloggers provide that and feed some of that curiosity . For that reason , I believe blogging and bloggers will still be relevant . Voices matter .
Tell us about a style icon of yours ? Nick Wooster . He is the epitome of what I want to be . His style is so brilliant and effortless . Anyone that has ever-paid attention to great street style selections knows of Nick Wooster . He used to be the men ’ s fashion director at Bergdorf ’ s and Neiman Marcus and his resume continues to grow extensively . He inspires people and makes a living by staying 100 % true to himself and that ’ s the dream . Words cannot describe how highly I think of him .
Sincerely , what is your take on Kanye West and his venture into the fashion industry ? Kanye West is a trendsetter and an influencer . I think that he is such a smart and enlightened man who continues to push boundaries . As a black man , knowing how hard it is to break through and prove yourself in every industry , I applaud Kanye . He might not be everyone ’ s cup of tea but no one can deny that he is immensely talented . He is his own man and for that reason , I think he will be a fashion success in his own right .
Your favorite fashion slang or quote ? This is one of my favourites from Lorraine Candy . It says , “ Things don ’ t have to change the world to be important . What you wear , your hairstyle , your make up ; if it is important to you , then it is important . To be confident and comfortable with your own image is so powerful ”.
