Peace.

My name is Jihad. Jihad Muhammad. I want to give you a running story of my life and how Black Marijuana Magazine got started. I was born on the southside of Chicago. Brainerd Park to be exact. Now if you don’t know anything about Chicago know this: Your parent's’ guide you and the streets raise you. So, I enter the neighborhood, and at 9 years old I was listening to N.W.A. Just so you know, I’m sure my parents were unaware and would not have condoned this. I’m sure that this was the first time that I recognized a marijuana reference but in hindsight, there were always seeds on the mantle in our home. I just never knew what they were. So, my father was a pot enthusiast. I’m not making any excuses, but I think he had P.T.S.D. from serving in the U.S. Navy and being security in the Nation of Islam. So, the smell of MJ was prevalent in my home. All I knew was to leave pops alone when the door was closed. The first encounter with cannabis that I can remember was in the 4th

grade. Me and some of my classmates were in the bathroom at school and an elder classman, I think he was in seventh or eighth grade, came in the restroom, peeled his sock down and exclaimed “this shit green as hell”. I didn’t position myself to see it, but I knew for a fact that he was speaking of the ganja. And then the summer comes. I was twelve and finally able to leave the block. There were a lot of children that lived on my block but I was making new friends at school and was looking to expand my social network. I started hanging out four blocks away at my friend Lenny’s. This is where I first smoked reefers. We were leaving his house one day and he bent down and picked up a joint and exclaimed “look what I found”. If I remember correctly, we went to the park and lit it. And that was the first time I kissed Mary Jane.

Fast forward to today and I am now a medical marijuana patient and the Editor for Black Marijuana Magazine. To be able to do what I love, marry music, marijuana, and move the culture forward, is so phenomenal that I can’t put it in words. Black Marijuana Magazine celebrates use of Cannabis in our communities through art, history, music, experience, information, and respect. We are going to bring REAL cannabis use, entertainment and education right to all people that enjoy that 93’ (premium gas) and the culture. After all Mary Jane love one color- green. So everybody around the globe, roll up and enjoy your premier edition of Black Marijuana Magazine.

No matter what, life is good.
