For those that don’t know, Wanda James is the first black dispensary owner in Colorado with a long list of cannabis credentials on her portfolio. She is a former Navy lieutenant and political campaign manager who was appointed to President Barack Obama’s National Finance Committee as well as Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper’s Amendment 64 Task Force work group that created the template for regulating recreational cannabis. For a long while, she was the first and only black-owned dispensary in Colorado. James and her husband, Scott Durrah, former marine and certified chef, have owned eateries in L.A. and Denver for nearly twenty years. Not long ago, they sold their famous restaurant Jezebel’s to give more of the love and attention to their newest budding venture, Simply Pure.
