ACCELERATING
GROWTH
icture the scene:
a new project
is launched to
protect a local
forested landscape.
Conservationists
arrive, planting saplings, taking
evidence to policy-makers, or
launching protective measures for
threatened species.Educators spread
the word across nearby schools and
community centres. Over the years,
P
20
the forest re-grows and becomes lush
and green. Species that had fled begin
to return. And then the project funding
ends – along with all the funding and
resources that came with it.
It’s a familiar situation the world over.
Working from one project grant to the
next, local organisations often find it
hard to get the long-term funding they
desperately need to make a permanent
impact. That’s where our Forest
Landscape Sustainability Accelerator
comes in. Inspired by the same model
used to power start-up businesses in
the tech sector, we help local Partners
to attract long-lasting investment
and explore forest-friendly business
opportunities that will safeguard the
whole landscape for decades to come.
Here are just a few examples of this
inspiring model in action.
