EXEMPTION FROM NEET ONLY FOR A YEAR , FULL IMPLEMENTATION IN 2017
Elaborating on this during a press meet at New Delhi on May 24 , the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare , Mr J P Nadda stated that NEET is being implemented from the current year itself for all UG admissions in all private institution in respect of their seats . He added , " The first phase has been conducted on 1st May 2016 , and the second phase shall be held on 24th July , 2016 , the Minister said . Only state Government seats in government Medical Colleges and state government seats in private institutions will have exemption ( if the state government concerned so opts ) for the current year ." Mr Nadda categorically clarified that from next year starting with PG examination in December 2016 , NEET will fully apply without any exemption .
The union government is promulgating the Indian Medical Council ( Amendment ) Ordinance , 2016 and The Dentists ( Amendment ) Ordinance , 2016 to amend the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 and Dentists Act , 1948 respectively . This is being done to provide for a uniform entrance examination for undergraduate ( UG ) and post graduate ( PG ) admissions with a proviso that for UG admission for the year 2016-17 only , the state level seats ( both government and private medical colleges ) shall be exempt from the purview of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test ( NEET ) regulations if the state government opts for it .
NITI AAYOG LAUNCHES 500 TINKERING LABS FOR SCHOOLS & 100 INCUBATION CENTRES
NITI Aayog is inviting applications from eligible schools , organisations and individuals to apply for the three major schemes under Atal Innovation Mission including establishing tinkering laboratories in schools , new incubation centres and scaling-up established incubation centres .
To foster creativity and scientific temper in students , Atal Innovation Mission ( AIM ) will establish 500 Atal Tinkering Laboratories in schools . It will provide one time establishment grant-in-aid of Rs 10 lakh for establishing Atal Tinkering Laboratories ( ATL ) in schools ( grade VI – XII ) across India . Further , an amount of Rs 10 lakh would also be provided for each ATL over a period of 5 years for operational expenses of ATLs . Thus , an amount of Rs 20 lakhs per Atal Tinkering Laboratory in each selected school will be spent .

AIM ’ s objective is to setup 100 AICs during 2016-17 . AIM will provide a grant-in-aid of Rs 10 crore for establishing a new AIC over a period of 5 years towards capital investment as well as operation and maintenance expenses . AIM will also provide scale up support of Rs . 10 crore over a period of two years to established incubation centres for augmenting their capacity . They will be shortlisted on the basis of key performance indicators . Both these schemes will radically transform the start-up ecosystem in the country by creating a network of incubation centres of world-class standards .
