Bose Institute is one of India’s
oldest and premier research
institutes. Current concentration
of research at the Institute is
in the fields of Plant Biology,
Microbiology, Biochemistry,
Biophysics, Bioinformatics and
Environmental Science.
The President said he was informed
that a series of international
conferences, visits and lectures by
eminent scientists including Nobel
laureates are planned to celebrate
this milestone. At the same time,
the institute also seeks to chart a
new course with the launching of a
number of new research and social
outreach programmes. Taking into
account the projected expansion
of the Institute, this campus is
expected to serve its needs for many
more years.
‘SKILL FOR LIFE, SAVE A LIFE’ TO
PROMOTE SKILL DEVELOPMENT
IN THE HEALTH SECTOR
The ministry for health and family
welfare recently launched the ‘Skill
for Life, Save a Life’ initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, the union
health minister, Mr J P Nadda
said that
India enjoys a
demographic
dividend as
more than
65% youth are
below the age
of 35 years and the Government
is determined to seize this
opportunity by providing adequate
skills and employability to the
youth for a strong foundation for
continued and sustainable
growth.

Minister of State for Health
& Family Welfare, Mr C K
Mishra, Secretary (Health &

occasion.
Institute celebrates its Centenary
this year.
Speaking at the function, Mr
Nadda said that skilling the
youth enhances the employability
and skilled India will help the
nation reap rich dividends. “This
shall reduce the gap between
expectations of employment of the
youth and the actual job they get”,
Minister added.
