HRD MINISTER BEGINS DIALOGUE WITH IIT STUDENTS
Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar exhorted the student community to concentrate on ideas that will change the fate of
Centre for Academic Rankings and Excellence ( ICARE ) at Rashtrapati Bhavan on July 20 , 2016 .
Speaking on the occasion , the President recalled that while assuming the Office of President of India four years back , he had described education as the alchemy that can bring India its next golden age in his acceptance speech .
Mr Mukherjee said in the last four years along with protecting , preserving and defending the Constitution , he has pursued improving the quality of higher education as a constant theme . As a former teacher , he was convinced that if India is to have a place on the high table of international community , it must achieve the highest possible position in the field of education . The physical infrastructure for higher education in India has increased considerably . However , the importance given to research in our universities is still inadequate .
India , while addressing the faculty and students of IIT-Delhi today . On his maiden visit to a Central higher education institute after taking charge of HRD Ministry , he expressed immense happiness of the venue being IIT-Delhi .
He said he was greatly overwhelmed after interacting with the research scholars of the institute and by the aspirations of many of them to become good teachers . ” I will go and tell our PM that here are the students who will change our nation ”, he expressed his happiness . In this context he added that this aspiration reflects their concern for this nation and our people and their belief in quality education for transformation of India .
He said he was excited to hear about Start-ups set up in some hostel rooms and wished every room be start-ups of great ideas and generate immense wealth for our nation . Recounting the great tradition of IITs and contributions of the alumni in all the sectors , he dismissed the general perception that majority of IIT students go abroad and work . He mentioned , he was told that 7 out of 10 IIT alumni work in India and contribute towards the development of our society .

INDORE GIRL WINS ' VOICE FOR BT ' CONTEST IN WEST ZONE
The 2016 season of the Novozymes sponsored ' Voice for BT ' event kicked with Ms Nabiha Sadique , a biotechnology graduate student from Mata Gujri College of Professional Studies , in Indore , Madhya Pradesh emerging as the winner at the event organized in St Xavier ’ s College in Mumbai on 2nd August 2016 . The Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises ( ABLE ) is the Knowledge Partner to this event that started off in 2012 .
The first runner up in the keenly contested event was Ms Mariya Mansoor Alam Ansari from Rishi Dayaram and Seth Hassaram College and SWA Science College , in Central Mumbai . The second runner-up slot went to ms Mathura Pravin More , a biotech student from Guru Nanak College of Artice , Science and Commerce , Mumbai .
“ The contest is part of our effort to spread awareness about the importance and benefits of biotechnology among the future leaders of our country ,” said Mr G S Krishnan , President and MD of Novozymes South Asia , Banglaore .
Dr Vivien Amonkar , head of department of biotechnology in St Xavier ’ s College was the chief guest of the event . The winner got a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and also gets a 3-month internship at this Denmark founded world leader in industrial enzymes . The
