Sterigenics International and
Noxilizer announce partnership
Noxilizer, Inc. and Sterigenics International LLC announce the
signing of a global agreement that will make Sterigenics the
exclusive worldwide provider of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) contract
sterilization services, as well as feasibility and research studies,
to the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device manufacturing
industries. Noxilizer expects to have the first NO2 sterilization
systems in place and operational in select Sterigenics’ facilities in
the United States and Europe by the end of the year with additional
installations to follow. As part of the agreement, Sterigenics will
also offer nitrogen dioxide sterilization consulting services to its
customers. NO2-based sterilization was first commercialized by
Noxilizer in 2012. Customers prefer nitrogen dioxide sterilization
for its key advantages: ultra-low temperature (10°-30°C), minimal
pressure requirements, no cytotoxic residuals, and fast cycle times
(2-4 hours, including aeration).
AMTZ signs MoU with BRIT
Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), India’s
first Integrated Medical Devices Manufacturing
Park, being set up in Visakhapatnam, has signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the
Board of Radiation & Isotope Technology (BRIT)
for setting up of one radiation processing facility for
medical devices in India using Cobalt 60 irradiation
technology for large scale irradiation.
The MoU was signed by Dr Jitendar Sharma,
managing director & CEO, AMTZ and G Ganesh, chief
executive, BRIT. This MoU enables manufacturers at
AMTZ with access to a first of its kind, world class
Gamma irradiation facility, which is being setup in a
Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode in India. This
facility will be available at a highly subsidized rate
for all manufacturers who will be manufacturing at
AMTZ. Gamma irradiation enables fast turnaround
time and is highly effective because of its ability to
easily penetrate package and product.
Under the MoU, BRIT will help AMTZ with
process technology, training to plant operators and
support in establishing and standardizing dosimetry.
BRIT is an independent unit of Department of
Atomic Energy (DAE) which provides products
and services based on radiation & isotopes for
applications in healthcare, agriculture, research
and industry. AMTZ would also include facilities
such as electro-magnetic interference laboratory,
3D designing and printing for medical grade
products, x-ray tube and radiation testing centre,
rapid prototyping centre, metal moulding and metal
finishing centre, warehousing and regulator’s office.
Agilent enters into
agreement with LabCentral
Agilent Technologies has announced a platinum
sponsorship agreement with LabCentral, a biotech
innovation hub based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
LabCentral is an independent, shared laboratory
space designed as a launch pad for high-potential life
sciences and biotech startup. As a platinum sponsor,
Agilent will equip LabCentral’s shared laboratory
workspace with a variety of instruments from Agilent
Technologies. Instruments will include a high-
resolution mass spectrometry system, as well as a cell
analysis extracellular flux (XF) analyzer.
Also, Agilent will fund a high-potential biotech
startup company at LabCentral via a contest to award
a Golden Ticket. The Agilent-sponsored Golden Ticket
is good for one individual bench in LabCentral’s shared
facility for one year. LabCentral offers a supportive and
nurturing environment designed to inspire interaction
and collaboration. Startups work side by side on
some of the most exciting potential breakthroughs in
diagnostics and therapeutics, and prevention across
the spectrum of diseases.
