There are many different kinds of drugs out in the world that affect the body terribly. Some more than others, the first drug is called LSD. Which stands for Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, users describe this drug as a “disconnection from reality”. They experience a “trip” that last about 12 hours, this drug is a mood-changing chemical and is found in fungus that grows on rye and other grains. Some short-term effects include increased heart rate and blood pressure and higher body temperature. Long-term effects include flashbacks and can alter the user’s sensory perception causing the message to the

Central Nervous System (CNS) to be misinterpreted. Another drug that affects the CNS is Cocaine, which is a white crystalline powder and is a very popular drug. Short-term effects include an intense high that is followed by depression shortly after (in some users), also increases the risk of heart attack or a seizure, breathing failure and can end in death. Long-term effects from Cocaine include permanent damage to the blood vessels of the heart and brain. Cocaine can cause liver, kidney and respiratory failure. The next drug is Heroin which is described as “a drug equal to death”. It is a very harmful drug; some short-term effects are Hypothermia and coma. Long-term effects include Muscular weakness, loss of memory and weakening of immune system and will cause skin inflammation. The fourth drug is very popular among teens, is it the drug called Marijuana. This is a green mixture of shredded flowers of the hemp plant Cannabis sativa. Marijuana is also used as medicine to help cancer patients during chemotherapy, but don’t be fooled this drug is very dangerous. Marijuana’s short-term effects include damage of vision and hearing, impaired memory and in the first hour of smoking this drug the user’s risk of having a heart attack increase by 5x more likely than before. The long-term effects of Marijuana result in the damage of the lungs and heart and may reduce the body’s ability to fight off infections and sickness. The next drug is Alcohol, which depresses your CNS. Alcohol can have a big impact on a person’s life and otherwise control it. Short- term effects of Alcohol are not as bad but include memory loss, lack of coordination and vomiting. It may not seem as bad but as the user starts and continue to drink, long-term effects appear. The long-term include liver damage, increase in heart disease, if you’re pregnant and drinking your baby’s heart and brain may be affected. All these drugs affect the body and are very bad for people such as alcohol and are so addicting that users can’t stop even if they wanted too.o.
