RE VIEWS ARCHITECTS OF DESTINY | Book Review by Cherise M. Catwell Architects of Destiny by Cher Antoinette is an anthology of poetry and prose that takes the reader on a journey through the tumultuous times of fighting for a dying love. For the unfortunate who have been through a break-up, you will undoubtedly be able to relate to this collection of work by this awardwinning author. With each poem she is able to deliver the message of not only craving physical love, but also craving a deeper and spiritual acceptance by her lover. She also explores a cycle of different emotions; hurt, despair, anger, insecurity, lust, hope and remorse. While taking this passage through the writer’s emotions, I couldn’t help but become drawn into a process of reflection, self-evaluation and realisation of harsh truths, as I’m sure you will too. Do we really want marriage? Or we do we aspire to this because of society’s expectations? Do we really want this relationship? Or are we simply afraid to be alone? All these questions and so many more are jolted into the mind of the reader. Those of you who seem to be at an emotional impasse, this book will surely serve as a reassurance, as through all of these emotions, the author’s message remains clear, “It’s always darkest before the dawn” and ultimately, we are the architects of our own destiny. 62 | BIM ROCK | REVIEWS
