EDITOR’S note
Fresh is that magical ingredient that differentiates copycats from innovators. Sure
there is nothing new under sun, that quote included, but it’s the ability to take what
already exists and infuse it with new energy that creates the stand-out effect and
grabs the attention.
More than being something new, fresh is a perspective, a state of mind and a way of
being. In this, our #Fresh issue, we have curated a crop of talent that knows how to
keep things crisp.
Shakirah Bourne, Ricky Redman and Sewlyne Browne – directors of Bajans In Motion
– have joined forces and continue to redefine what it means to be Barbadian on the
silver screen. These filmmakers, all powerhouses in their own right, are the brains and
talent behind the film company that conjured up the hilarious comedy Payday. Now
they are back with the sequel Next Payday: On A Wing And A Prayer, due out this
spring, and Culture ROCKs is on the scene exploring the genius behind their ability
to induce a bellyful of laughs.
For Party ROCKs, BimROCK went out and sampled a weekend worth of events soirees of all kinds just in case you wanted to diversify your partying portfolio. In our
Music ROCKs segment we introduce you to the young blood, Robbi Selin, who has
concocted a fusion sound he calls island rock. Over at Food ROCKs we are all ‘bout
de place like Poonka in the mobile Sips Smoothie Bar and rounding out our fresh
perspective is the fashion-forward Shane Eastmond in the land of Fashion ROCKs.
We certainly haven’t reinvented any wheels here but we sure have delivered this
issue to you the only way we know how – brand new and fresh of course.
Enjoy!
