She stands firm in her belief of not succumbing to the pressure of putting out music she personally doesn’t feel is ready. “I just believe in taking time to sculpt your sound, your music, and get it right. Too many people just want to rush and put out things. I don’t want to do that.” She continues, “I want to make sure that this art that I’m working on is … the word ‘perfected’ is so overused but I want to make sure that I’m comfortable with it, Mohamed is comfortable with it, the people that I’m working with … like we know that this is right.” For the rest of 2015, Kristen will be travelling back and forth, between home and the Big Apple; writing, recording, and putting in the leg work towards establishing herself in the international market. This driven and determined young lady is not looking to sacrifice her sound and - most important - her image, for the sake of making ‘pop music’. Two years in, and she is still coming to grips with the strides she has made so far. “I just know that I’ve grown so much. I feel it and I can see it in my music and everything,” Kristen says. “I guess it’s important to know that you’ve changed. Like you’ve improved yourself. 54 | BIM ROCK | MUSIC ROCKs I’m nowhere where I thought I would be. “I’m very satisfied and I’m proud about what I’ve been able to achieve and learn in those two years.” So where does Kristen see herself in two years if she remains consistent? “Well I see the music being popping,” she says with a huge laugh. In a more serious tone, she continues “I know for sure in two years, all the music that I have now everybody will have. Definitely. I just see a huge amount of growth…”. She pauses for a moment, and for fear of letting some big plans out the bag, she asks, “Am I supposed to answer this question with actual events?” Kristen is very coy in revealing her upcoming plans. “I’m a firm believer about putting things into the atmosphere,” she explains “but I’m also a believer of keeping most of your dreams to yourself.
