Graduation standards ad- dressed in each course are identified in the course descriptions. Math Graduation Standards ALGEBRA - BHS.MGS.A Interpret, represent, create and solve algebraic expres- sions. FUNCTIONS - BHS.MGS.F Interpret, analyze, construct, and graph linear, qua- dratic, and trigonometric functions. GEOMETRY - BHS.MGS.G Prove, understand, and model geometric concepts, theorems, and constructions to solve problems. STATISTICS & PROBABILITY - BHS.MGS.S Interpret, infer and apply statistics and probability to analyze data and reach and justify conclusions. Pre-Algebra #14015 Open to: Grade 9, 10, 11 & 12 Level: CS Credit: 1 Standards Addressed: BHS.MGS.A, G Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation or placement test Description: This course is a review of basic math and an introduction of basic algebra skills. The course introduces concepts such as operations with positive and negative numbers, basic algebraic ex- pressions, and an introduction to word problems. 20 Algebra I #14035/#14036 Open to: Grade 9, 10, 11 & 12 Level: CS/CP Credit: 1 Standards Addressed: BHS.MGS.A, F Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation or placement test Description: This is a theoretical approach to Algebra I. It fo- cuses on algebraic functions, equation-solving skills and inequali- ties, graphing linear equations and inequalities, and functions and function notation, and systems of equations, properties of expo- nents. Honors component: polynomials and factoring. Geometry #14045/#14046 Open to: Grades 10, 11 & 12 Level: CS/CP Credit: 1 Standards Addressed: BHS.MGS.A,G Prerequisite: Algebra I or Teacher recommendation Description: Geometry offers students a means of describing, analyzing, and understanding aspects of their world. Geometric modeling, visualization, and spatial reasoning can be used to solve many kinds of problems. This course includes the study of congru- ent and similar triangles and their associated proofs. Quadrilater- als, parallelism, ratio and proportion, and practical uses of trigo- nometry associated with right triangles are also covered. Geometry - Honors #14047 Open to: Grades 9 & 10 Level: H Credit: 1 Standards Addressed: BHS.MGS.A,G Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation Description: Geometry offers students a means of describing, analyzing, and understanding aspects of their world. Geometric modeling, visualization, and spatial reasoning can be used to solve many problems. This is an integration of algebra and geometry which includes the study of congruent and similar triangles with an emphasis on geometric proofs. This course includes the study of a variety of geometric shapes including triangles, quadrilater- als, and circles. This course is for the very talented math student.
